How to Live a Happy Life

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” — William Arthur Ward

Are you healthy? Do you have family and friends? Do you have shelter and food on the table? If your answers are yes, Be GRATEFUL!  🙂 You are a very LUCKY person. You could ask how many people out there who are willing to be in your shoes [and the answer is, plenty of them]

I decided to write on this topic because I realize nowadays, we often take for granted, the things that most-deserve our gratitude. A lot of us may think that we are not good enough, or we do not have enough. “My neighbor has a better job and nicer car”, “My friends are much prettier and slimmer than I am”, “His marks are so good, I am sure he will have great career path”. “If only I were….”. Well, have you ever though of the person who are much less fortunate than you are?

Take a moment, close your eyes and think. Try to focus on what you HAVE, one by one…. from persons to things, the largest to smallest, tangible to intangible. You have countless blessings, haven’t you? Sure, each of us has our own troubles and challenges. It doesn’t mean that we have a perfect life. But it’s very important to pause every now and then to appreciate all that we have.

  1. Stop Comparing with Others

“In your eyes, your neighbor’s grass is always greener”. You will never be satisfied if you keep comparing with others. You have your own life and they have theirs. Do not try to live their lives. Be satisfied with what are yours, and be happy.

  1. Be Grateful of What You Have

Everyday before I sleep, I will recall all the things that I feel grateful for. Some might be repeated from day to day, but it makes me realize that I have a great life. Start to count your blessings, you will feel happier, richer and more satisfied.

  1. Put Effort, don’t be lazy

Be satisfied with what you have doesn’t mean that you don’t put any effort as you are satisfied with your current life (that is called lazy!). Put your best effort in everything that you do. If you fail, learn the lessons, get up and try again.

  1. Enjoy Your Life

Last but not least, enjoy what life has given you, and live to the fullest. As written by M. Aurelius, “When you arise in the morning, think of what a previous privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” — Albert Einstein

Be grateful, and enjoy your life to the fullest ❤
